Thank you for visiting my page!
Welcome to your 2024-2025 school year at SFOA! I am a math enthusiast and specialist. I teach 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th grade math. Everyone asks 'why not 7th?' and it is because 7th and 8th grade math happen at the time time slot and while I'd love to be two of me, there is only one and that one teaches our phenomenal 8th graders.
I am so excited, every year, to have your children as my students. Math was not easy for me when I was a kid. Along the way of figuring math out, a deep understanding for struggling and thriving students found its foundations. I am deeply passionate teaching math about finding creative ways to make students excited about math and make connections with our content to the outside "real world" as much as possible. Everyone learns math differently, even if math is your passion.
I have a son who is a student here at St. Francis and a daughter in a post high school program in the Highline School district. I am a proud Philadelphia native but have lived in Seattle for the last 26 years. When the Seahawks play the Eagles or the Kraken play the Flyers, it's a very conflicting day for me. We live locally here in Burien in the Seahurst neighborhood. We love this community that our school cares for, invests in and fosters.
General classroom information such as classroom policies and expectations, parent resources and interesting and useful links related to course objectives will be posted on Otus, for grades 6-8, and Google Classroom for Grade 4 and 5. Please connect yourselves, as parents or guardians, to your student's account either in Otus or Google Classroom.
For many of our students success, it takes us working together as a team to have the best possible outcome. I look forward to working with you all this year to help ensure your child's success.
